Finding Harmony

A Different Kind Of Counseling

Discovering one’s essential nature and true spirit is a common theme of psychological and spiritual literature and is the foundation of my approach to counseling.

Working through past hurts and present disappointments can be overwhelming and painful. Sometimes we benefit from support during life’s challenges. I offer a safe and confidential space where you can be free to share whatever is going on for you, whatever led you to my website.

As human beings, we often confuse self-defeating thoughts or behaviors that stem from historical trauma and fears with who we are as individuals and as a result we may inadvertently and unfortunately reinforce them. Perhaps our work needs to focus on ending our daily struggle to contain and suppress feelings that we do not know how to process alone and learn that it is not our fears that are the problem but the fleeing itself.

By using a different quality of listening and learning to trust the quiet, wise voice inside of us, we can empower ourselves to step out of certain behavioral patterns, and ultimately make life choices that are more attuned to who we are and what we seek as individuals. When we allow the voice we have ignored, suppressed, or argued with for so long to be our guide, the voice can lead us to the root of what's holding us back, and help us move toward the life we’re longing for, one that truly fits us.

I offer a different perspective from the traditional psychotherapeutic process. My approach differs in that I do not regard it as a treatment for a diagnosis or pathology. I find that most of our blocks to spiritual or psychological growth are a function of developmental coping strategies and learned responses in which we attempt to exclude parts of ourselves. It is by addressing and soothing these attempts that we can discover our essential nature and move towards living authentic and fulfilling lives.
